Wordless Wednesday/Miércoles Mudo SLIDESHOW: DOMA and Gay Marriage

The Supreme Court hears two challenges to laws--California's Proposition 8 which bans same-sex marriages and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) signed into law by President Bill Clinton which prevents gay couples (married where it is legal) from receiving federal benefits, such as jointly filing taxes or collecting Social Security survivor's benefits. Each looks at whether the state and federal government discriminated against a minority group, in violation of the constitution's equal protection clause.
